Situated in Shropshire, a county full of picturesque market towns, rolling hills and many countryside activities we believe a stay at Walcot Hall estate will become a truly memorable experience. Whether you’re looking for a cosy holiday apartment for a weekend get away or an outdoors experience for all the family we have the answer…
All of our cottages and glamping ‘Hidden Treasures’ fit in well with the impressive and energetic ambiance of this renowned estate. Walcot Hall is best known for its idyllic setting, which makes a unique wedding location and houses some of the most characterful accommodation in Shropshire. The two complement each other, as it is often hard to find an ideal wedding venue with accommodation of the same level for the whole family!
Our weekend breaks are for either a Friday and Saturday night or Saturday and Sunday night (2 x nights) and our mid-week breaks are for Monday-Friday (4 x nights). Weekly stays are also available but please note that at Christmas, New Year and Easter, all bookings are for a minimum of 7 x nights. Check in time is from 4.00pm and departure time is 10.30am. We don’t have a traditional check in/out procedure, upon receipt of the final payment, all the information/directions and maps are emailed to the guests so you can make your own way to your accommodation, let yourself in and make yourself at home.
For availability and rates please take a look at our individual cottages and glamping page listings.
With no less than 13 self-catering holiday cottages housed in a variety of buildings around the estate, from the Main House to the refurbished stable block to an old reconstructed Chapel in the Arboretum. Ranging from 1 to 5 bedrooms, all the holiday cottages are as cosy as you could wish for, thoughtfully furnished with a classically comfortable feel. Perfectly located for exploring the Shropshire Hills, we can accommodate families, group of friends and romantic couples – the 1 bedroom Arcot apartment in the old clocktower has lovely views over the garden. We can also accommodation large groups, for example in the very spacious Styche apartment situated on the top floor of the Main Hall, we can fit over half a dozen people into its 4 x bedrooms. The whole top floor can in fact sleep 24 x people so perfect for large family / friend’s getaway. All of the holiday cottages across the estate have wood-burning stoves and/or Agas, and some have their own private patios or garden spaces.
Suited to the slightly more agile and adventurous, our glamping ‘Hidden Treasures’ are the sort of place to head for if you not only want to get right away from it all but you’re also keen to stay somewhere really different! We have a wide range of options – three yurts, a gypsy caravan, a shepherd’s hut, two traditional ‘showman’s’ caravans and a fire truck in our very own Arboretum. These glamping options share a variety of facilities, the yurts share a converted henhouse loo, others use a ‘long-drop’ earth toilet in the woods; there is a gas-powered shower in a caravan central to the Arboretum, and you can also use the facilities block at the Walcot Hall campsite at the bottom of the drive if you wish.
You can spend hours wandering beneath the boughs of the beautiful Arboretum, in and out of the grottos, and up to the giant wooden bear. There are lakes with rowing boats to punt around in, lawns to play croquet on (unless reserved for a groom and his bride that day) and local stables for those who prefer to explore from the seat of a saddle!
