The Shepherd's Hut

A Cosy, Idyllic Hut For Two Or More

The Shepherd’s Hut is in a secluded spot in Walcot’s beautiful Arboretum and has just recently been redecorated. It has no electricity or running water.

The Hut is an original Roadman’s Wagon with 1 cosy kingsize bed and 2 single bunks above which can fold out when required. The seating area in the living space can be used as an additional small bed. Light is supplied by candles and torch light. There is a wood-burning stove for warmth and a twin ring gas hob for cooking. There is a lovely outside seating area near a campfire for those lazy summer evenings.

Bed linen is included at no extra cost, however you will need to bring your own towels. An initial water supply is provided but you will have to carry your own water to top up the reserves during your stay. A short walk away there is a long-drop lavatory (or earth closet), and we have fitted a shower in a genuine AA van.

Please note we do not allow group bookings for our hidden treasures and they are only suitable for the more agile and adventurous. Sturdy footwear and a torch are essential!

There are two hidden and secluded pools nearby, and you can spend hours wandering around the Arboretum, always discovering new and beautiful trees and treasures.  The Great Douglas Fir is a must, Over 17ft wide and 100ft tall, it is a magnificent sight.

(Please note that the Shepherd’s Hut is not available from 1 November inc to 24 March inc)
