The Dipping Shed is a stunning and secluded rural retreat situated just off the drive to Walcot Hall.
Tucked away from the main house, The Dipping Shed sleeps up to four guests, offering a private and peaceful escape. With two double bedrooms, it is the perfect retreat for couples, families, or small groups seeking rural holiday cottages in Shropshire.
The lodge is surrounded by soft fields, trees, and endless views — a place where nature and quiet take centre stage.
Perched above the west lake, this timber lodge exudes character and charm. Accessed by foot via a tranquil stroll across fields (or by car with parking nearby), The Dipping Shed welcomes guests into a private garden entrance and an open-plan living space designed for comfort and connection.
Inside, the lodge features:
A main double bedroom just off the living area
A second double bedroom on a mezzanine above the kitchen, reached by a sturdy wooden ladder for adventurous sleepers
A wood-burning stove and warm wood tones throughout
A fully equipped kitchen with a Rayburn and gas cooker
Every detail balances rustic charm with practical comforts, creating a cosy and inviting countryside retreat.
Large wooden shutters frame stunning vistas of the west lake and Long Mynd. Outside, a stone-paved terrace with table and benches offers the perfect spot for slow breakfasts, alfresco dinners, or quiet moments soaking in the Shropshire landscape.
Whether you’re staying for a weekend getaway or attending a wedding or gathering at Walcot Hall, The Dipping Shed provides both seclusion and convenience. A ten-minute walk connects you to the Main Hall or Ballroom, or you can drive and park close by. Please note, there is no television, allowing guests to fully unwind and embrace the peaceful surroundings.
As with all Walcot Hall cottages and glamping stays, The Dipping Shed is dog-friendly. Four-legged guests are warmly welcomed to explore, wander, and rest alongside you, making this one of the best dog-friendly rural retreats in Shropshire.
A quirky little retreat brimming with character. Perfect for slow mornings, countryside rambles, and curling up in your own cosy nook – this is simple living, done beautifully.
The chapel stands serene and sublime amongst the English oaks and chestnuts of the Walcot Arboretum.
The Arni cottage is a sun-soaked hideaway situated on the top floor of the main house on the south east corner, with views overlooking the ballroom and gardens to the rear of the hall.
Situated on the second floor of Walcot Hall, Montfort has two double bedrooms; Margaretta and George, and one twin room called Elizabeth. All of the rooms are filled with the history of the Hall.
