Walcot Hall sits in the heart of the Welsh Marches — a quietly magical corner where Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys meet. Think rolling hills, winding lanes, and a pace of life that invites you to slow down and soak it all in.
Spend your days exploring the ancient hillfort of Bury Ditches, hiking across the wild beauty of the Long Mynd, or browsing the independent shops and breweries of nearby Bishop’s Castle. Ludlow — famed for its food scene — is just a short drive away, with farmers markets, Michelin-starred dining, and some of the best produce in the country.
Whether it’s a lunch in a cosy local pub, a stroll through castle ruins, or a lazy afternoon at a food festival, there’s always something new to uncover just beyond the gates.
Walcot Hall is surrounded by a landscape that begs to be explored. For walkers and cyclists, the options are endless — rolling hills, quiet lanes, and miles of peaceful trails right on your doorstep.
One of our favourite routes is the scenic three-mile path to Bishop’s Castle, a charming market town with a laid-back feel and a big personality. It’s home to colourful shops, two independent breweries, and a handful of proper country pubs perfect for a post-ride pint or lazy lunch.
And just a short stroll from the Hall, at the end of the drive, you’ll find The Powis Arms — our cosy on-site pub with rooms, a seasonal menu, and a friendly welcome whether you’re popping in for a pint or planning a full evening of good food and company.
Whether you’re out for an afternoon wander or diving into a full day of discovery, there’s always something worth the journey.
