Tucked away in a quiet corner of the grounds, our charming Shepherd’s Hut is your cosy countryside hideaway. Perfect for peaceful escapes, wild swims, and starry-night campfires – all with a touch of rustic charm.
Wild Stillness in the Heart of the Arboretum
Tucked away among the whispering leaves of Walcot Hall’s historic arboretum, the Shepherd’s Hut is a love letter to slow living and simpler times. This original Roadman’s Wagon, lovingly restored and full of character, offers a soul-soothing, off-grid escape made for dreamers, writers, wanderers—and their four-legged companions.
Step inside to discover a surprisingly roomy king-size bed, a charming wood-burning stove, and a vibe that says “put your phone down and pick up a book.” Outside, a private seating area and campfire circle invite long conversations under the stars, while dappled sunlight dances through the leaves.
You’re welcome to bring your own BBQ for alfresco feasts—everything tastes better in the forest.
We provide bed linen to keep you snug as you slumber. Please bring your own towels to complete your glamping kit.
This is glamping, Walcot style—no electricity, no distractions, just fairy lights, candle glow, and the crackle of the fire. A shared kitchen area with gas hob and running water is a short stroll away, along with hot showers and quirky flushing loos nestled nearby. A refillable water container is ready for you inside your hut.
During early spring and late autumn, the air gets a little nippy—we provide logs for extra cosiness, but pack layers and come ready to embrace the season.
The Shepherd’s Hut sits off the beaten track—a torch and sturdy footwear are essentials, especially if you arrive after dusk. If it’s been raining, wellies will be your best friends.
This space is perfect for those who love nature, not plug sockets.
Need to keep things chilled? There’s a communal freezer near the Estate office where you’re welcome to refreeze your cool box blocks.
As with all Walcot Hall’s tucked-away treasures, the Shepherd’s Hut is dog-friendly, because no soulful adventure is complete without a wagging tail.
