Situated within the Walcot Hall estate in our beautiful Arboretum, there are two Showman’s caravans.
Hidden Magic Beneath the Longmynd Sky
Perched quietly within the leafy folds of Walcot Hall’s arboretum, the Showman’s Caravan offers an off-grid escape like no other. With sweeping views across the majestic Longmynd Hills, this lovingly restored vintage caravan is steeped in nostalgia, wrapped in nature, and ready to welcome curious souls looking for a storybook stay.
As dusk settles, gather around the crackling campfire, toast marshmallows, and watch the stars flicker into view—this is glamping made for slow moments and wonder-filled nights.
Step outside your doorstep and find yourself in a landscape of enchantment. Meander through hidden forest trails, stumble upon two secluded pools, and stand in awe before the Great Douglas Fir—a giant of the arboretum, measuring over 17ft wide and soaring 100ft into the sky.
The caravan’s elevated spot makes for the perfect morning coffee view or golden-hour wine retreat. And yes—you’re very welcome to bring your own BBQ.
We provide bed linen for your cosy caravan stay, but kindly ask that you bring your own towels.
Here at Walcot, glamping means unplugging from the world and tuning into nature’s rhythm. The Showman’s Caravan is delightfully off-grid—no electricity, just fairy lights, and a wood-burning stove to keep things toasty when the evening chill rolls in.
A short stroll away you’ll find hot showers, quirky loos, and a shared kitchen nook complete with a gas burner and running water. A refillable water container is provided in your caravan for convenience.
Planning an early spring or late autumn stay? We’ll have the logs ready—but be sure to pack layers and embrace the adventure.
The Showman’s Caravan is nestled deep within the arboretum, so we recommend sturdy footwear, a torch, and a sense of adventure—especially if you arrive after dark. If it’s been raining, wellies will serve you well.
Bringing chilled food? A communal freezer is available near the Estate office where you can refreeze your cool box blocks.
As with all of Walcot Hall’s magical hideaways, this caravan is dog-friendly, so bring your faithful friend along for the journey—because every woodland tale is better with a wagging tail.
Tucked away in a quiet corner of the grounds, our charming Shepherd’s Hut is your cosy countryside hideaway. Perfect for peaceful escapes, wild swims, and starry-night campfires – all with a touch of rustic charm.
Ram Baa Shepherd Hut is one of ten ‘Hidden Treasures’ and sits right in the middle of the arboretum, surrounded by beautiful trees and nature.
Located in the yurt field alongside Crazy Horse and Buffalo Springfield Yurts this yurt has its own private decking with wonderful views over the valley and village of Lydbury North.
Situated in the arboretum, with stunning views over Shropshire’s Longmynd this Showman’s Caravan is an authentic caravan which has been renovated and redesigned to suit people looking for a holiday with a difference.
